Augustus ‘Gus’ Cook is a 21-year-old athlete from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He has competed in the sport of Sprint Kayaking since age 11. Augustus has earned a Bronze Medal at the Pan American Games, been a finalist at the Junior, Under 23, and Senior World Championships, as well as securing 13 National Champion Titles. He is currently an American Record holder in the K4 500m event. Augustus is a member of the U.S. National Team, the U.S. Pan American Team, and in the future, he hopes to compete at the Olympic Games. Augustus attended his first international race in 2017 and has been competing on the world stage ever since then. 

Outside of Athletics, Augustus is a student at the University of Central Oklahoma where he is studying Kinesiology and is involved on campus as the President of the President’s Leadership Council and the Vice President of Membership Development for the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He has been actively involved in student life, leadership, and personal development and was recently featured as a TEDx Speaker at the TEDxUCO 2024 event. Augustus hopes to continue pushing himself and others to seek their highest potential.
